BLUE MED FAB Governing Board and Committees met in Malta in September 2023

On the 5th and 6th of September 2023, the FAB BLUE MED Member States met in Malta for the periodic meetings of the Governance groups.

On the first day the meetings involved the three technical committees: the ANSP  Committee, the National Supervisory Authorities Committee (the regulators) and the Civil-Military Cooperation Committee. They discussed relevant and current issues for the FAB and its members and reported, on the second day, their progress and proposals to the Governing Board, the FAB's decision-making body. Main exchanges were on the summer traffic, managed efficiently although in several cases exceeding 2019 traffic levels, while also discussing on new challenges such as the growing impact of weather phenomena (i.e. summer storms) or the environmental performance.

Focus was also on the Single European Sky regulatory developments, affecting the Member States and Stakeholders in the European area, and on the Civil-Military Cooperation for the harmonization of the procedures for special activities over the high seas.

Coming months will also see additional progress on the BLUE MED Implementation Programme, especially in the four key areas: airspace design and management, civil-military coordination, performance and innovation.
The BLUE MED partners continue their cooperation with the aim to support the regulatory, operational and technological challenges, also creating synergies and jointly developing opportunities.
