On November 3, the 22nd meeting of the Blue Med FAB Governing Board was held in Athens, bringing together representatives of stakeholders, civil and military (ANSP, NSA, MIL), from the four Member States.
Starting from the assessment of the positive Summer traffic data recorded in almost all the Blue Med States, it was finally decided to concretize the need, repeatedly raised, for a revision of the BM-IP (Blue Med Implementation Programme) aimed at making it more suitable to the new needs and challenges of the aviation sector, giving priority to the activities considered more strategic. In this perspective, the following key areas will be addressed: ATFM, Free Route Airspace, Training, Airspace Management/Flight Procedures Design, Digital/Remote Towers, Data-link and Regulatory Developments.
During the meeting, the need for close coordination and exchange of expertise among all Member States on drones management was also reconfirmed. To this end, the 'BLUE MED Coordination Group on Drones' was established and will soon meet to identify the areas of focus and to structure the work.
